Shimmy Beach Club were requested by the City of Cape Town to obtain a noise exemption permit while they were hosting the Goldfish Summer Concerts at the venue. In order for Shimmy Beach Cub to comply Mackenzie Hoy Consulting Engineers were contacted by Shimmy Beach Club to conduct a noise management plan as well as noise monitoring during the course of the events. The Goldfish Summer Concerts were being held every Sunday night from 20:00 until 02:00. Mackenzie Hoy Consulting Engineers had two sound level meters installed. One was permanent, which was situated in the Ports Authority Tower located adjacent to the venue. The second meter was installed on the day of the event. The engineer on site could remotely login to the permanent meter in the Ports Authority Tower and determine the sound pressure levels emanating from Shimmy. The sound level meter had been in place for over 2 months and had no problems and was considered a great success. |
