The Project

The Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, the Saldanha Bay Municipality and the National Department of Trade and Industry commissioned a pre-feasibility study to investigate the potential of establishing an Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) within the Saldanha Bay area.

The Saldanha Bay IDZ Licensing Company  was jointly established by the national Department of Trade and Industry, the Western Cape Government and the Saldanha Bay Municipality for the implementation of the Saldanha Bay IDZ programme. LiCo is seeking the necessary environmental authorisation for the development of an oil and gas Offshore Service Complex (OSC) within the Saldanha Bay IDZ.

We modelled the area using the software SoundPLAN which takes into account geographic  topology, existing buildings surrounding the planned development and possible future expansions.

We were thus capable of providing the clients with an accurate level of noise control and mitigation measures to help with the assessment of the area.
