We were requested by Peutz to take noise measurements of the Aegir Vessel while berthed at Cape Town Harbour while on its maiden voyage from South Korea to the Netherlands. The noise measurements were required to formulate a noise management plan and noise prediction study for the vessel in order to berth at Huisman Schiedam, The Netherlands were acoustic requirements are fairly stringent. Huisman Schiedam port is located near to a noise sensitive residential area and in order to comply with Dutch noise regulations the measurements were required. Measurements were taken during a tight timeframe schedule only hours after the vessel had berthed in Cape Town Harbour. The Aegir is a deep water construction vessel. The monohull vessel will be capable of executing complex infrastructure and pipeline projects in ultra deep water and has sufficient lifting capacity to install fixed platforms in relatively shallow water. The large crane on the Aegir has a lift capacity of 4000 metric tons and lowering equipment will reach a depth of 3500 meters. |
