The Project |
|
In late February 2013, Terry Mackenzie-Hoy and Rachel Viljoen travelled to the Lumwana Copper Mine located in Northern Zambia. Simultaneous 24 hour noise monitoring was completed at a number of locations including the nearby village and copper mining pits. Acoustic measurements were also taken during routine blasting. The results of the measurements were used to determine the effect of the mining activities on the local residential areas which surround the mine. Back at the office, noise mapping for the various pits, process plants and haulage roads were completed using SoundPLAN software. The project was a success and another example of Mackenzie Hoy Consulting Engineers ability to complete rigorous noise monitoring projects in a short-timeframe and in foreign countries. |
